PRS, the organisation that collects royalties for Songwriters and Composers, who analysed data of more than 10,000 live music events 2011, has ranked The Robin 2 as 13th top UK music venue.
Robin 2 owner/operator Mike Hamblett said "We have been striving for many, many years to establish the Robin 2 on the international music scene and I think these 2011 PRS For Music statistics show that we are making incredible progress in this quest. There are no distinctions in these figures for size of venue, so to come in at No13 in the 7000 UK Live Music Venues licensed by the PRS is no mean achievement, two positions down from the Royal Albert Hall in London at No11, four places above The Boardwalk in London at No17, quite a good position to be in!
We are always trying to move forward here and our 2012 programme, just published, is probably the most ambitious and varied one yet, we have over 120 music events on offer in the months Sept – Dec 2012. I am very proud of the great team we have here at The Robin 2 and the very loyal clientele who have supported us over the past 20 years.
This PRS analysis includes the number of live performances that are put on and the amount of Royalties revenue they collect from us to pay the PRS members who created the great music performed at our events are paid their due Royalties. It's a good feeling that we are playing our part in feeding this great British industry"
Robert Ashcroft, PRS for Music’s CEO, in a statement said 'Its an enormous accomplishment to run a successful live-music space and, in spite of economic challenges, the British live-music scene is still strong,'
