Strawbs first hit the charts in the UK and Europe in the early 1970’s with 'Grave New World’ and 'Bursting At The Seams’. From the mid-1970’s they concentrated their attention on the United States and Canada where their albums, including the classics 'Hero And Heroine’ and 'Ghosts’, spent over fifty-two weeks on the Billboard charts. They toured regularly with the likes of Santana, Peter Frampton, The Eagles, REO Speedwagon, Joe Walsh, Blue Oyster Cult, King Crimson and Frank Zappa.

Rick Wakeman played with the Strawbs for two years before moving on to achieve worldwide success with Yes, and as a solo artist. The much-loved Sandy Denny made an album with the Strawbs before she joined Fairport Convention.

Most recently Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk have been touring twice a year in the UK with an acoustic show. The tours have been a huge success with growing audience numbers year on year. The full electric line up only does a handful of UK dates a year, so don’t miss them!

"It was a treat to catch a full set from recent Friday Session band The Valuable Fools." (BBC Introducing Friday Session's Andy O'Hare.)
Midlands band The Valuable Fools return to The Robin with their mixture of classic rock sensibilities and pop melodies with vocal harmonies , after supporting Stackridge here in April.
The band have different musical backgrounds of power-pop,classic rock, indie , acoustic and classical and have songs which have all sorts of influences . 'In these days where a lot of band's songs sound the same , we like to try and put in some variety, it seems to work' says Mark. Indeed BBC Worcs presenter Andy O' Hare likened them to 'the soundtrack to Pulp Fiction', an apt description, since both have a range of musical styles and dynamics in them.
They have notched up a radio session for BBC Introducing and airplay for their songs ,the 10cc sounding'1976 Anyway', The Stones-esque'The Vine' and The Beatles influenced 'Winter Song' from their album 'What's Next Dad?' on BBC WM and BBC Worcester, aswell as gaining exposure on independent Canadian radio. The word is spreading! Samples of songs can be found at www.myspace.com/thevaluablefools' title='Go to: www.myspace.com/thevaluablefools'>www.myspace.com/thevaluablefools and the official site www.valuablefools.co.uk
