UNREAL CITY
Two years only after "Il Paese del Tramonto", Unreal City return with a new work, "Frammenti notturni".

If the two previous albums (the debut album "La Crudeltà di Aprile" was released in 2013) contributed to spread the band's name all around the international progressive scene, thanks to concerts played in Europe and overseas (Canada and USA), this third chapter is destined to consolidate their status as one of the of the most important names in the Italian prog-rock panorama.

The current line-up includes Ema Tarasconi, the music and lyrics composer, on keyboards and vocals, Francesca Zanetta on guitar, Dario Pessina on bass guitar and the new drummer Marco Garbin.

"Frammenti notturni", which was recorded at the beginning of 2017 at the renowned Studio 2 in Padua, sees the participation of guests Matteo Bertani on violin and Camilla Pozzi on vocals.

The album, divided into five long tracks, is as usual characterized by the dark atmospheres that we already encountered in the band's first two records; the sound and the production are far more modern than the past ones, but echoes of the '70s progressive rock music are still very present, as they've always been a trademark for the group. "Frammenti notturni" is not a concept album in the true sense of the word, but its lyrics have some common themes, such as the urban setting and the obstacles that interferes with communication among humans.

Last but not least, for the first time in the history of Unreal City, the album is also available in a beautiful LP gatefold version!

THE GIFT
The Gift are a symphonic progressive rock band based in London. They formed in 2003 when Mike Morton (writer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist) hooked up with Leroy James (guitarist, writer and producer). They had both been working throughout the 80s and 90s in mainstream rock projects, but discovered a shared love for prog (which they had supressed due to its supposed stigma). The Gift started as a duo, with the two partners sharing all instrumental and vocal duties. Their goal was simply to record a 45 minute epic called 'Awake And Dreaming', which Mike had written in response to the then current invasion of Iraq.

KAPREKAR'S CONSTANT
For two British musicians, 1970’s Progressive Rock music has never been bettered.
Having struggled for over forty years to write and record songs that might gain some recognition, the pair threw preconceptions and formats out of the window. Eighteen months later Fate Outsmarts Desire has enjoyed a worldwide release on all formats, including vinyl (of course).

The album’s reception has startled Al Nicholson and Nick Jefferson a little; they are far more used to indifference, at best, than favourable reviews and glowing feedback.

Already being hailed as one of the best Progressive Rock albums of the year, Fate Outsmarts Desire features a veritable dream team (they prefer ‘collective’) on a series of epic tracks telling tales ranging from 1920s land speed record attempts to Harry Houdini’s obsession with the afterlife.

Legendary Van der Graaf Generator sax and flute player David Jackson, described by the BBC’s Peter Marsh as ‘one of the few saxophonists ever to have done anything worthwhile in a rock context’ appears on nearly 60 minutes of music as does top drummer Phil Gould, founder member of, and songwriter with Level 42.

Film and TV composer and top producer Mike Westergaard (Dragon’s Den, Big Brother) has recorded and mixed the album and played piano and keyboards.

Dorie Jackson, who has sung with Francis Dunnery and Chris Difford shares vocal duties with Bill Jefferson former frontman of Cornish fish-punk band Crowns.

The intricate artwork, very much a trademark of the genre, has been handled by Nick’s brother, world-renowned fine artist Sean Jefferson.

Fate Outsmarts Desire was released on Uranium Club Records on March 10 2017 with a launch party at the Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford and followed up with a live performance of the whole album at London’s Water Rats.

To top off a fantastic year for the band they were nominated in the 2017 Progressive Music Awards in the Limelight Category (best new band).
